Feb. 22 Ash Wednesday Services - We will have three different services on Ash Wednesday
9 am at Home Depot in El Cerrito - I-80 Area Ministry Ash Wednesday Service with the Day Laborers.
5:15 pm at Church - Short Child-Friendly Ash Wednesday Service
7 pm at Church - Ash Wednesday & Holy Communion
March 4 Jazz Vespers at 7 pm - Come start your Lent with this meditative service of prayer and beautiful jazz music by jazz pianist Jeanne Walpole of the Berkeley Jazz School and her ensemble. There is no charge, but a freewill offering will be taken.

Featured Ministry of the Week: Altar Guild
We of the Altar Guild are six: Judy Andrade, a long time member who has returned after a "vacation" and whose gift is to starch, iron and fold all of the freshly laundered altar linens as they are returned; Linda Bressem, who also bakes all of the communion bread in addition to her regular duties; Marguerite Febus, Hope Keller, Maria Roy and myself.
Together we care for all clergy vestments, linens, vessels, candles, etc.required for various services; vest the Altar and prepare the bread and wine for the Eucharistic services of the church; assist with preparation and materials for special services such as Taize, jazz vespers, candlelight, and new services as they arise if requested; order supplies as needed.
We think of this ministry as an "affair of the heart" in that we are called to it by love and serve with love for Jesus and his flock (you). If your heart speaks to you in this way, please speak to any one of us and come and be with us in joy. Stephanie Bettencourt, Altar Guild Director
New Bishop's Committee and Deanery/Convention Delegates Elected
At our annual meeting on February 5, we elected the following people to serve on the Bishop's Committee and as Deanery/Convention Delegates:
Internal BC Group: Christine Nadeau (3 years) and Dave Elliott (1 year) External BC Group: Kathryn Cleberg (3 years) and Maria Roy (3 years)
Deanery/Convention Delegates: Christine Nadeau and Anne Fletcher (both for 1 year)
Ann Roberts will continue to serve as Sr. Warden.
The following officers will serve depending on Bishop's Committee approval at our planning retreat this weekend.: Dave Andrade as Jr. Warden, Christine Nadeau as Secretary/Clerk, Marguerite Febus as Treasurer and Susan Linnell as Assistant Treasurer.
Everyone, please keep the Bishop's Committee in your prayers this Friday evening and Saturday during our annual planning retreat.
If you were not able to attend the annual meeting, you are welcome to pick up a copy of the annual report at church.
